Mara Trübenbach defended her PhD dissertation “Material Dramaturgy: Tracing Trails of Dust in the Architectural Design Process” on March 19, 2023. Mara Trübenbach graduated from the Bauhaus-University Weimar with an MSc in Architecture in 2018, having studied previously at the Peter Behrens School of Arts in Dusseldorf and at the Technical University Vienna. In 2019 she was selected to join the EU Horizon 2020 international network TACK / Communities of Tacit Knowledge: Architecture and its Ways of Knowing: https://tacit-knowledge-architecture.com. As a PhD fellow at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, she works on the intersection of design methods, craft and material in architecture: https://www.materialorbit.com. Mara has gained a cross-disciplinary professional horizon from interior design to landscape architecture in several offices across Europe. Her research includes work on provenance and migration in architecture. In the summer of 2019 she was selected for the Bauhaus Lab program at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, Dessau, DEU, followed by the collectively curated exhibition Handle with Care. Unpacking a Bulky Table and a pocketbook. Mara gave a talk at the Isokon Gallery in London, UK and was invited to speak at the Design History Society Annual Conference at Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK as well as at the CA2RE | CA2RE+ Hamburg | Reflection conference.
